Therapy on a horse
While in Scituate we met Linda Adams, owner of Booth Hill Farms. Not only can you visit Booth Hill for traditional horseback riding lessons, but it’s also the home of Children’s Therapeutic Riding — Linda is a certified Hippotherapy instructor. Hippotherapy is the use of the movement of the horse as a treatment strategy in physical, occupational and speech-language therapy sessions for people living with disabilities. Hippotherapy has been shown to improve muscle tone, balance, posture, coordination, motor development as well as emotional well-being. Hippotherapy and therapeutic riding help build coordination and motor skills as well as confidence and self-esteem in students.
Next time you’re in Scituate, pop over to Booth Hill Farm and say hi to Linda!
