lost & found

I Double Dog dare ya!

PrintOur show this week was all about animals, and specifically our family members that are non-human. In fact, Stan’s dog Isla joined us in the studio too! Video of Isla will be up shortly.

We  spoke with Chey Ottoson, founder of Double Dog Rescue, to learn more about the process of adopting a dog through a rescue group like Double Dog. Double Doggies typically come from southern states like TN and are transported north with the help of dozens of volunteers. Chey and her sister Laurie started the group in December 2006 (Happy 3 year anniversary, gals!) after Chey had her first experience adopting a dog from the south. When they learned of the overpopulation, the fact that not many dog owners spay or neuter their pets  and there are so many dogs in southern communities that it’s common for dogs to be euthanized they knew they had to do something.

Double Dog tries to help as many dogs as they can, but they couldn’t do it without the generosity of their many volunteers who pick up, transport and vet the animals. One job Chey is always looking to fill are volunteers to help foster the dog before they are moved to their permanent home. If you’re interested in fostering a dog please contact Chey through Double Dog’s Facebook Fan Page. You don’t have to be a dog owner and it’s ok that you work full time. You’re giving a warm, loving home to a dog that might not otherwise be alive.

Keep up the great work, Chey & Laurie!

where is the Weymouth maple syrup guy?

pancakesAnother addition to our new “lost & found category” is Chris aka Mr. Maple Syrup in Weymouth.

So last week on the Virtual View of Weymouth we found this awesome video of this kid who tapped a tree in his front yard and made 1 pancake’s worth of maple syrup. Check it out:

We don’t actually know Chris, so as you can imagine it’s been a challenge trying to track him down. We tried to post him a message on youtube, but no dice. We asked for him on the radio last week. Still no dice. So if you know him, call us tonight or post a comment here. And Chris, no worries if the experiment didn’t actually work. We love the idea anyway…so come talk to us.

caller asks about milton restaurant. we found it.

Last week Tina called in and asked “What’s the name of that new restaurant coming to Milton?”

Well Tina – we looked and we found 2 new ones:

#1 a restaurant called 88 Wharf is coming to Milton Landing this month [July]. Looks like it might be an upscale bistro with Mediterranean and American cuisine, overlooking the Neponset River

abby#2 Across town, is a restaurant called Abby Park also opening this month [July]. It’s at 550 Adams Street in the former Videos to Go spot in East Milton Square near the Southeast Expressway. The website says to expect American cuisine and it looks yummy from the photos. http://www.abbypark.com/

Thanks for calling in Tina!
