tonight’s show Monday August 30, 2010…

Tonight we’re celebrating the last days of summer with ice cream from Wilbur’s in Scituate and fishing with Captain Rick who’s biz card reads “burn fuel..kill fish.” And we’re listening to the musical sounds of Erika Alsen. We first met her at the Tinker’s Son in Norwell singing country songs. She’s bringing her guitar and entertaining us tonight.

So tune in….

Wanted to wish all our listeners a happy new year! We’ve enjoyed coming into your living rooms, offices and cars and maybe a few of you who listen from the bathroom too. LOL

We’re working hard behind the scenes to come up with great new shows for 2010! So have a safe and healthy new year’s eve and we’ll see you next year!

animals online

Think the animal kingdom only exists in nature? Think again. There’s a whole world or animals online for pet owners and animal enthusiasts. Or for the occasionally curious.

Here’s our favorite animal-related sites:

Xtreme! On the South Shore

MM8Thought all the extreme fanatics lived in Florida? Nope! We’ve got a crew of Xtremers living right here on the south shore.

Tonight we’ve got four of them in the studio – Mike Marsh, wakeboarder gone pro-circuit (pictured left), Anthony Geraci, NETRA offroad dirt bike champion 3 years (04,05,06), Jarrod O’Leary who does crazy motorcycle stunts (yeah, the big heavy ones!) and Jon Basile who surfs year round (even in -10degree weather).

These Adrenalin junkies are serious athletes (kids don’t try this at home!). They all do multiple sports too — triathlons, boogie boarding, windsurfing, skateboarding…you name it, they do it! And if we had asked… they would have packed the studio with twenty or thirty more  stunt riding, extreme surfing, dirt bike riding, wakeboarding friends…we’re sure of it!

Of course, as crazy as these daredevils are…we found a few extreme sports that you’ve probably never heard of and maybe wish you hadn’t.

That part comes later on The Virtual View:

1. Stunt Pogo.

Extreme_pogo_xlarge

This is not your father’s pogo stick. The “flybar”, a super springy pogo stick, can launch people seven feet in the air. Stunt pogoing has it’s own brand of tricks and incorporates styles from BMX and skateboarding, just without the cool factor. Check out this video from the NYC street games and you might be so impressed, youmight go out and buy a pogo stick.

2. Dirt Surfing

Dirt surfing is a board sport where riders coast along an inline board over roads, mountains, grass and anything else they want. The bigger wheels work on more terrains and some disciplines attach a kite to the board and take it to the next level – wingsurfing.  Watch this video

gotta love beer

beerIt’s tonight! The long awaited “hops” show on South Shore Live and Stan has been working hard (or hardly working. LOL) lining up tonight’s guests.  He’s  got the folks from Harpoon and they’re bringing in tastings! He’s got Mayflower Brewing and Narragansett Beer. And Joe from Curtis Liquors where they are doing an 100 beer tasting on Oct 31st.

And on the Virtual View we want to know – what can beer lovers could do online?
